According to Wynn Resorts, the Wynn Al Marjan Island in the United Arab Emirates is on track to open in the first quarter of 2027. The company reported that it completed over half of its structural concrete. It will be the first integrated casino resort in the UAE. Also, the project’s estimated cost is around $5.1 billion, more than its initial budget of $3.9 billion.

Last night (November 21), Wynn provided the most recent report on the project’s status. They have completed structural concrete for 55% of the main resort tower up to level 26. The walls continue up to the 29th storey. According to a bookie pay per head blog, the building crew finishes one storey per week and aims to cap off by December 2025. The resort tower increased by 44 meters in the past 100 days.

Approximately 9,100 construction crew members work on-site, and the team brings in more than 100 concrete trucks daily. Wynn Design and Development (WDD) supervises over ninety architects, designers, and creative visionaries on this project.

In addition, the crew completed the construction of its structures. About 820 rooms are presently being fitted out. Everything within, from the walls and flooring to the ceilings and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, is being fitted out. The installation of escalators and elevators also started earlier this month.

There will be a theatre, an events center, a 15,000-square-meter shopping promenade, several swimming pools (both lap and shallow), and 22 restaurants, cafes, and bars. The whole thing sits above a 225-square-foot gaming floor. When it opens, you can expect a casino house edge.

Specifically, the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah will be home to the new resort, just fifty minutes away from Dubai International Airport. Wynn is carrying out the project in collaboration with Marjan and RAK Hospitality Holding.

Wynn Works Behind the Scenes

Even though Wynn just got a casino license in the UAE last month, construction has continued for a while. This license, the first of its type in the Emirate, was awarded on 4 October by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA). Wynn anticipates being joined by two additional sites in separate Emirates, although it has a substantial advantage over its anticipated competitors thanks to its early start on the larger project.

It may be a while before we hear who else could join Wynn in the UAE, though. GCGRA chairman Jim Murren stated that the regulator concentrates on the already approved companies, and resort licensing will be slow.

The Game’s license to run the UAE Lottery and several supplier licenses are the only other licenses awarded thus far. MGM Resorts is among the operators eyeing the UAE market. During a Skift event in September, CEO Bill Hornbuckle disclosed that a resort is being planned in Abu Dhabi and that a license application is now being processed.

In addition to outlining its objectives for the UAE gaming sector, Wynn received its license last month. It projects a value of $3–$5 billion, with total gaming income for the Ras Al Khaimah location ranging from $1–1.67 billion. Wynn CEO Craig Billings hailed the United Arab Emirates as probably the most exciting new market for the gambling industry in decades during the Q3 results call earlier this month.
