Cardoso scored 12 of her team’s first 14 points in the second quarter. However, only one minute and thirty-nine seconds before halftime, she looked to get her ankle caught up with River Baldwin and landed on her right knee.

The game was 32–31 going into halftime, and Cardoso wasted no time getting to the locker room. No slacking off that was the straightforward word from the locker room. They said there would be no more letting NC State lead. As a result of the trainers’ evaluation of her knee, Cardoso was adamant about returning.

Soon after halftime, Cardoso became more than simply an inside presence for South Carolina. Shots that had been missed in the first half finally found the target in the second. North Carolina State appeared helpless as the Gamecocks went on a 16-5 run to start the quarter. In disarray and disarray, the Wolfpack stood.
