Kamilla Cardoso brought her A-game Friday night, and South Carolina heads to the NCAA women’s basketball final. Cardoso played with a sore knee in the second half but dominated inside the painted area. Thus, South Carolina won against NC State 78-59. They will face Iowa in the final game of the women’s side of March Madness.
South Carolina was the clear favorite heading into last year’s Final Four, with an unbeaten record and the chance to win back-to-back titles. But the semi-final loss to Iowa is a painful memory for the returning Gamecocks players. According to pay per head providers, the Gamecocks vowed many times leading up to Friday night’s game that they would never let themselves be swept aside by another team.

South Carolina Advances to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Final
Even a scare with Cardoso’s injury couldn’t stop the Gamecocks this time. Cardoso scored 12 of her team’s first 14 points in the second quarter. However, only one minute and thirty-nine seconds before halftime, she looked to get her ankle caught up with River Baldwin and landed on her right knee.
The game was 32–31 going into halftime, and Cardoso wasted no time getting to the locker room. No slacking off that was the straightforward word from the locker room. They said there would be no more letting NC State lead. As a result of the trainers’ evaluation of her knee, Cardoso was adamant about returning.
Soon after halftime, Cardoso became more than simply an inside presence for South Carolina. Shots that had been missed in the first half finally found the target in the second. North Carolina State appeared helpless as the Gamecocks went on a 16-5 run to start the quarter. In disarray and disarray, the Wolfpack stood.
