Clemson advances to the Elite 8 after an upset against 2nd-seed Arizona on Thursday, 77-72. It is the first time Clemson has qualified for the Elite Eight since 1980. On the other hand, Arizona had not been in the Elite Eight since 2015.
The Wildcats recovered from a 13-point first-half deficit to level the game at 56 in the second. But then the Tigers embarked on a run to get back in the game and never let the advantage disappear, ultimately winning.
According to a sportsbook pay per head blog, Clemson will play fourth-seeded Alabama on Saturday for a spot in the Final Four on April 6. In Thursday night’s game, Alabama defeated North Carolina, the No. 1 seed, 89-87.
Clemson shot 82.5 percent from outside the arc throughout the contest and 29.0 percent from the field. However, the Sun Devils made only 25 out of 67 shots and hit only 5-of-28 three-pointers.

For Clemson, Chase Hunter scored 18 points, including the game-winning shot in the final seconds. With 16 points in the second half off the bench, Jaden Bradley kept the Wildcats in the game for Arizona.
Coach Tommy Lloyd’s Wildcats were aiming for their first-ever Elite Eight appearance. In his first season, 2022, Arizona also went down in the Sweet 16. Princeton, a No. 15 seed, beat it in the first round last year.
Arizona’s final record was 27-9. Under Lloyd’s leadership, the team won the Pac-12 regular season title for three years. Pac-12 Player of the Year and Arizona Wildcat Caleb Love shot just 5-for-18 from the floor and 0-for-9 from beyond the arc. Pelle Larsson sunk a pair of three-point attempts and was 2-for-9 overall.
