Floridians have been waiting for a long time and many false starts for sports betting to be available. However, the wait is almost over as the Florida Seminal Tribes will Begin Sports Betting next month. According to a statement by Seminole Tribe leaders, they plan to roll out sports betting in their casinos I December.
The news comes after the decision by the Supreme Court to lift the hold on online sports betting in Florida. Thus, after more than 2 years of legal challenges, Florida may finally have sports betting in just a month. According to the compact with Florida, the tribe will provide sports betting to the entire state. However, for the launch they are limiting it to only in-person sports betting.
As to online sports gambling, no deadline has been set for it. Despite having the online bookie software and the infrastructure ready, the Seminole Tribe is taking their time. Gaming experts believe it is because of remaining lawsuits remaining about the compact with Florida. Thus, they probably do not intend to roll out mobile sports betting gambling anytime soon. Or at least, until they know whether online sports wagering is legal or not outside of tribal territory.
According to sports betting analysts, the lawsuit against the tribe may take years to settle in Florida courts. At the moment, they are facing 2 legal challenges by brought to the court by pari-mutuel companies against the compact. Until then, sports bettors in Florida will just have to place they wager in-person at tribal casinos.
Florida Seminole Tribes will Begin Sports Betting in 6 Casinos
Seminole leaders said they will begin offering sports betting, craps and roulette at three of their casinos on December 7. These casinos are the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, Seminole Classic Casino in Hollywood and Seminole Casino Coconut Creek.
However, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa will not launch sports betting until Dec. 8. Afterwards, the tribal casino in Immokalee and Brighton will offer it on December 11, 2023.
Gov. DeSantis, that the addition of sports betting in the tribal casinos will create jobs and increase tourism. In addition, it will provide billions of additional revenues to Florida. Therefore, he is “proud to work with the Tribe” and looks forward to its full implementation.
