North Carolina Senate Passes Sports Betting Bill
North Carolina is one step closer to legalizing online sports wagering on most major sports leagues. This is because yesterday, the NC Senate had a session and House Bill 347 was up for voting. By the end of the session, the verdict was in as the North Carolina Senate Passes sports Betting Bill.

Furthermore, this was the second reading of it and the Senate will vote again on it today as a formality. However, gambling analysts do not expect the North Carolina Senate to have any changes in today’s vote.
Afterwards, the bill will return to the House of Representative who must approve any changes made to the Bill. However, it is possible that the Bill could face some opposition in the House. This is because it did undergo significant changes in order to pass the Senate. One of these major changes includes sports betting not including other gambling expansions.
If all goes well, the sports betting Bill will be sent to the Governor Roy Cooper’s office for his signature. As a supporter of legal sports betting in North Carolina, Governor Cooper will probably sign the Bill. If he does, then we can expect online sports betting to be available in North Carolina by 2024.
North Carolina Senate Passes sports Betting Bill – Details of HB 347
If Bill HB 347 passes in its current form, it will award up to 12 licenses for gaming operators. Thus, they will be able to offer online sports betting to any adults with North Carolina. Furthermore, it would also allow 8 facilities in North Carolina to operate a sportsbook.
These include: PNC Arena, WakeMed Soccer Park, Bank of America Stadium and Spectrum Center in Charlotte. Furthermore, it would also include the Charlotte Motor Speedway, North Wilkesboro Speedway, Sedgefield Country Club and Quail Hollow Country Club. Furthermore, each of these venues would be able to partner with a mobile gambling operator. Thus, it could mean leave at least four licenses for operators without in-state partners.
