Pennsylvania Bookies Record a $615 Million Handle in January
Pennsylvania bookies are enjoying a great start to the year, setting another record-high handle for the state. In the latest bookie pay per head news, we have been seeing states having a larger handle than the previous month. In fact, Pennsylvania, with its $165 million betting handle, records the highest handle since the state started to offer sports betting. December 2020’s handle for the state is $548.6 million. This signifies a 12.2% increase.
Sports betting is not the only successful gambling market in the state. In fact, online casino gaming now also has a record high $80.4 million in gross revenue for January. This is 11% higher than December’s $71.6 million. Both online casinos and online sportsbooks are doing well, which is why it helps to get an all in one pay per head service when you get in the gambling business.
Pennsylvania Bookies: Online Betting Shines
Online sports betting is the more popular option in Pennsylvania, as opposed to betting in retail sportsbooks. Of course, the pandemic may be a factor in this. But even before it started, online betting has been steadily increasing across the country. In Pennsylvania, 94.3% of the wagers made in the state, or $579.9 million, are from online sportsbooks. This is 8.4% higher than December’s $535.2 million.
The Pittsburgh Steelers could have driven action in the state to be higher, had they pass the wild-card round of the NFL. However, their season ended on January 10 when they lost against the Browns during the playoffs. Meanwhile, casinos reopened on January 4, but they can only operate under 50% of normal capacity. With the popularity of online betting, you have much more potential to earn more if you promote your bookie business, and start offering online sports betting options to your target market.
