Some states are facing deficits due to the pandemic. Thus, some states want to expand their gambling laws to solve their budget problems. Cruise lines have also suffered because they haven’t had any cruises for a year. The good news is that there’s a possibility of sports betting on cruise ships.

Princess Cruises told reporters that they want to be the first cruise company to offer sports betting on their ships. People can wager on sports with the use of an app. It is available in all Medallion Class ships.

According to a sportsbook software provider, Princess Cruises improved its mobile offerings in recent years through its Ocean Medallion program. The medallions are like Disney’s Magic Bands that feature RFID chips.

Now Princess Cruises become a bookie by introducing sports betting through their app. The cruise firm partnered with Miomni to offer casino games through the Ocean Casino app. Princess Cruises will add a sportsbook to the app.

The company seamlessly incorporated the Ocean Sportsbook into the app. It is an added feature to the OCEAN Guest Experience Platform. However, sports betting will only be available when the ship is in international waters or where gambling is allowed by law.

According to pay per head provider source, Medallion Class ships have Wi-Fi available for passengers who want to remain connected with their mobile devices. Its parent company, Carnival Corp., is affiliated with the Miami Heat. Thus, wagers on games involving the Heat are unavailable.

Carnival limited the access to sports betting to its high-end Princess Cruises. Also, the company used touchless technology to avoid infections during the pandemic.
