However, the wait is almost over for Indianans sports gambling fans.  This is because according to the Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC), Mobile Sports Betting is Coming to Indiana in October.

On Wednesday, the IGC said that they have given Rush Street Gaming permission to start its mobile sports betting operation. IGC officials said the Chicago gaming company, Rush Street Gaming has met all of the requirements Indiana Code Article 4-238. Furthermore, they have a partnership with French Lick Casino to start their online sports betting platform in early October.

Thus, the French Lick Casino sportsbook will be the first company to offer mobile sports betting in Indiana. In addition, they were one of the first casinos in Indiana to open a retail sportsbook in early September. If all goes well, their mobile sports betting app will launch on October 3, 2019.

Sports Betting Expansion in Indiana

Indiana became the tenth state to legalize sports betting after the repeal of the PASPA Act in 2018.  Since then, they have made a lot of effort to have sports betting available by September of this year. Originally, IGC officials were hoping for a simultaneous launch for both land and mobile sports wagering in September.

However, they had to put mobile sports betting on the backburner as their main efforts were on land-based sportsbooks. Now, that it is successful, they working on expanding sports betting and online sports betting will be part of it.

According to gambling news, the IGC has given permission for 13 sportsbook locations within its borders.  In addition, each of these locations will soon be able to offer mobile sports betting. The IGC expects other sportsbooks to have their mobile sports betting platform available later this year.

All online sports betting platform in Indiana have to use geofencing technology.  This is because they want to make sure that all bettors that use it are within Indiana. Furthermore, all bettors need to sign up to use any mobile betting platform and prove their identity.
