Thus, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board gave approval for an application from Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino for a $10 million license. The hearing took place Wednesday in Harrisburg, PA.

Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino had submitted their application to the PGCB a month ago.  One of the high point of their application is the success with its slot and table games at their casino. In addition, several other points were mentioned during their Wednesday presentation.  One of the points includes Harrah’s intent to build out a 4,322-square-foot sportsbook facility inside its existing facility. In addition, it will also include the expansion to their food and beverage offerings.

Furthermore, the sportsbook will feature 40 flat-screen TVs and betting packages on all major professional and college sports. The sportsbook area will also have an odds board, several teller windows, self-betting kiosks, horseracing terminals and stadium seating.

Pennsylvania Releasing More Permits for Sports Betting

Just a few days ago, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board gave out more licenses for sports betting and online gambling. Harrah’s has now become the fifth of 13 casinos in Pennsylvania to receive a sports betting license.  In addition, the PGCB also gave sports betting licenses to Rivers Casino Pittsburgh and Sugarhouse Casino in Philadelphia on Wednesday.

On October first, the PGCB gave a sports betting license to Parx Casino and the Hollywood Casino in Dauphin County. Parx is hoping to launch their sportsbook this month while Rivers Casino is hoping to be online before December first.

The launch delay for Parx is because they working on getting their Sportsbook software in place.  However, Bookie Pay Per Head are not certain they will be ready before the end of the football season.

On the other hand, there is no specific date as to when Harrah will open their sportsbook.  They do intend to offer mobile and interactive sports betting.  In addition, they expect to use Caesars Interactive Entertainment LLC as operator of the interactive sports wagering services.  Scientific Games Corporation will also be the provider of equipment and the sports wagering platform.
