NFL Week 17 prediction - lions vs packersMany sports handicappers believe that many of these games are useless except for entertainment value. However, this is not the case for a few teams still trying to catch a wildcard spot.

On a side note, it looks like the Cleveland Browns are headed for NFL history with a current 0-15 record.  If you are going to be the worst team in the league, you might as well get a perfect losing season.  If the Browns lose this Sunday against the Steelers, it will make them the second team to lose all 16 games in a season.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at some NFL predictions from our team of handicappers.

NFL Week 17 Top Predictions

Cleveland Browns (0-15) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (12-3) at 1:00PM ET on Dec 31, 2017

This one is a given. Even though this is the Browns’ last chance to avoid a 0-16 season, don’t expect any miracles from them.

According to most Bookie Pay Per head services, most sportsbooks opened the odds with the Steelers at -13 and a total of 39.5.  Since then the line has moved to -11 in some circles.

Last week, the Steelers got their first ATS victory when it defeated the Houston, Texans 34-6.  Most people expect the Steelers to repeat this feat against the Browns.

Suggestion, the Steelers will cover the spread

Green Bay Packers (7-8) vs. Detroit Lions (8-7) at 1:00PM ET on Dec 31, 2017

Even though the Detroit Lions are out of a Wild Card spot, they might just manage to beat the Packers.  The oddsmaker have the Lions as a -6.5 favorite and they may just finish their last game with a win.

However, the points pread seems a bit high for the Lions, as they have not done very well at home this season. In addition, when the Lions defeated the Packers back in November, Hundley was just getting used to playing in the big leagues.

Take the Packers at +6.5

Minnesota Vikings (12-3) vs. Chicago Bears(5-10) at 1:00PM ET on Dec 31, 2017

The Vikings and the Bears have a rivalry history in the NFC North which will make for a fun  game to watch.  In addition, this means that it will be a close game.  According to NFL News, The current odds have the Vikings as a -12 favorite with an over/under of 39.

Minnesota is looking to get a first-round bye in the playoffs and to be the NFC’s no. 2 seed.  The Vikings have not lost at home since 2011 and Chicago is still breaking in QB Mitchell Trubisky.

The writing is in the sand and you can expect the Vikings to cover the spread.
